All birds — canaries, budgies, conures, parrots, finches, and more.
Small Mammals
Guinea pigs, rabbits, hamsters, chinchillas, rats, and mice.
Reptiles & Amphibians
All reptiles and amphibians permitted in San Francisco. (No boas, pythons, front/rear-fanged or venomous animals per SF municipal code.)
Standards of care
What you can expect
- Fresh food and water provided every day
- Animals cleaned and checked on throughout the day
- Animals handled only by Animal Connection staff (or vet if necessary)
Complimentary house diet
Small Mammals
Oxbow pellets, timothy hay, and fresh greens (typically romaine, dandelion greens, and other dark leafy greens)
Reptiles & Amphibians
Variety of bugs (crickets, mealworms, dubia roaches, waxworms) and fresh greens depending on diet requirements
Birds
Species-appropriate seeds and occasional treats

* All boarders must arrive in appropriately sized, clean cages. Please bring a sizable cage — it will be your pet's only space for their stay.
Before you drop off
- Cage must be clean and in good condition
- Bring the lid — we do not accept open-top cages or tanks
- Bring your animal's specific diet and any treats
- Notify us of any special medical instructions ahead of time
- Make a reservation — we fill up during holidays and summers
